Steve Bingham

Steve Bingham met Peter in law school.  They ran a community health and legal program in the summer of 1968 in the San Joaquin Valley.  Peter was a huge support to Steve after he fled for his life in 1971, accused of aiding an alleged San Quentin Prison breakout by famed political prisoner George Jackson.  When Steve returned in 1984, Peter’s organizing training with Fred Ross and Cesar Chavez was instrumental in him quickly organizing dozens of house meetings through Friends of Stephen Bingham, an effective way to introduce Steve andthe terrifying political oppression 13 years before to the Marin community.  Steve was acquitted of all charges in 1986.
